トーマス・ヘイガー

アメリカ、オレゴン州ユージーン在住の医化学系ジャーナリスト。医微生物学と免疫学を修めたのち、米国国立癌研究所の広報担当を経てフリーランスのライターとなり、医療関連の記事をAmerican Health, Journal of the American Medical Associationなどに寄稿。Oregon Quarterlyの創刊に関わり現在まで10年以上エディターを務め続けるなど、地元を中心に活動している。オレゴン大学ではコミュニケーション／マーケティング部門長を務めた。Readers Digest, Self, Wall Street Journal, Medical Tribune, Shanghai Dailyなどに100本以上の記事を発表している。著書に、『大気を変える錬金術——ハーバー、ボッシュと化学の世紀』（渡会圭子訳、白川英樹解説、みすず書房）のほか、Force of Nature: The Life of Linus Pauling （Simon & Schuster, 1995）; Linus Pauling and the Chemistry of Life （Oxford University Press, 1998）; The Demon Under the Microscope （Harmony/Crown, 2006），Thomas Hager Ten Drugs: How Plants, Powders, and Pills Have Shaped the History of Medicine (Abrams, 2019)〔久保美代子訳『歴史を変えた10の薬』すばる舎〕ほか。
