1974-。医師・医学史家。ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学医学史部門准教授。医師と製薬企業の歴史的研究の第一人者。著書Prescribing by Numbers: Drugs and the Definition of Disease （2006）でレイチェル・カーソン賞およびエドワード・クリーマーズ賞を受賞。Generic: The Unbranding of Modern Medicine （2014、『ジェネリック』野中香方子訳、みすず書房、2017）。
