ジョージワシントン大学、自閉症 & 神経発達障害研究所教授。文化人類学者。エスノグラフィー研究所ディレクター。Anthropological Quarterly誌主幹。専門はエスニシティー、ナショナリズム、心理人類学、スティグマ、自閉症など。心理人類学者としてはおもにアフリカ(コンゴ民主共和国など)・韓国をフィールドとし、韓国において自閉症に関する初の疫学的調査を行った(Kim, Y. S. et al., “Prevalence of autism spectrum disorders in a total population sample,” American Journal of Psychiatry, 168(90): 904-912.
